How to Replace a Brake Light Bulb on a 2007 Nissan Sentra

by Kyle McBride

Nissan's 2007 Sentra uses combination taillights mounted on the rear corners of the vehicle, as well as a high-mount, third brake light mounted inside on the parcel shelf below the rear window glass. The lower combination lights use a No. 3057 bulb, and the high-mount brake light uses a No. 921 bulb.

    Items you will need

    • No. 3057 bulb
    • No. 921 bulb
    • Ratchet
    • Socket set
    • Flat-head screwdriver
    Step 1

Get in the backseat and find the high-mount light housing on the parcel shelf. Push in on the forward-facing corners of the housing until the housing clips disengage from the parcel shelf. Lift up on the forward side of the housing and pull the housing towards you slightly until the housing comes loose.

    Step 2

Grasp the bulb socket and rotate it counterclockwise to disconnect the socket from the housing. Pull the bulb out of the socket. Push a new No. 921 bulb into the socket. Install the socket in the housing and rotate it clockwise to engage the socket in the housing.

    Step 3

Engage the nibs on the rear-facing side of the housing in the slots in the parcel deck. Push down on the forward-facing side until the housing clips snap into place.

    Step 1

Lift the trunk divider panel up and off the panel hinges, if equipped. Remove the trunk divider reinforcement bar retaining screw using a ratchet and socket. Remove the bar from the trunk.

    Step 2

Locate the retainer pin near the top of either side finishing panel. Carefully pry out the center button in the retainer about one-quarter inch, using a small, flat-head screwdriver to release the retainer. Pry out on the outer edge of the retainer to remove it from the panel. Move the panel aside.

    Step 3

Detach the combination light wiring harness clips from the vehicle. Remove the combination light housing retaining nuts, using a ratchet and socket, then remove the housing.

    Step 4

Rotate the bulb socket counterclockwise to disconnect it from the housing. Pull the old bulb out of the socket. Push a new No. 3057 bulb into the socket. Install the socket in the housing and rotate it clockwise to engage the socket in the housing.

    Step 5

Install the housing in its recess and tighten the housing retaining nuts. Install the trunk side finisher panels. Insert the retainer pin in the hole, and then push in the center button to lock it in place. Install the trunk divider reinforcement bar, if equipped.

    Warning

    • Use caution when removing the high-mount light housing. Age, sunlight and extreme temperatures can cause the plastic to become brittle, and easily broken.
